Vaccinations

Anybody else out there concerned about vaccinating your kids at such a young age with so many different types of vaccines. I am looking into doing an alternative schedule and I found a website with a recommended schedule that recommends starting at 18-24 months instead of 2 months and only receiving one vaccine at a time. Here is the website: http://generationrescue.com/vaccines.html. Anyone with any info or insights, I would love to know.

I guess I am a little nervous about waiting so long but the good thing is my pediatrician is willing to do whatever I want.

So I have been doing some research and I found a book by Dr. Sears that I am going to read. From what I have read so far his schedule encourages vaccinations but Olivia wouldn't have to wait until she is 2 years old but she doesn't have to get all the doses at once. It seems to have a lot of great information. Here is his website if anyone is interested: http://www.askdrsears.com/thevaccinebook/

I thought about doing the same thing and talked to my doctor about doing something similar. I do agree that some of it seems like a lot for their new little immune systems and tiny bodies.
One thing my doc talked about was that young infants are at the highest risk of dying from or getting seriously affected by some of those deseases vacinated against. Like whooping cough is really scary for a 3 month old. And whooping cough is very much still around!
It's hard because you want to do the right thing, and with vaccinations it's hard to know what the right thing is...
Good luck and keep me posted. I'd like to know if you find out any great revelations about it. And how are you little froggy's hips? Any luck with the brace?

Our baby is not vaccinated. Not that we are against vaccinations, our boys are vaccinated. But your right, too many too soon. After alot of studying we have chosen and decided to wait and follow the schedule that you mentioned. I have a book how to raise a healthy child in spite of your pediatrician (written by a pediatrician) who advises not getting them all together, some other websites I've been reading lately www.thetruthaboutvaccines.com and the doctor within have some good info.

Thanks for the updates about breastfeeding and little Olivia! Hang in there with breastfeeding - I know it can be super frustrating sometimes but it is worth it. It will keep Olivia from getting every single cold and flu bug out there and it's a great bonding time.

As for the vaccines, I have to say I'm going to give the trained public health response but I really believe they are good things to do. It is kind of scary when the media makes it sounds like they cause things like autism and are bad, but they save lives. The diseases they protect us from are horrible and deadly. I really place great faith in them. 3rd world countries have millions that die from diseases that we choose not to vaccinate our children with and I find that apauling!!! They not only protect those who are vaccinated but the rest of the community through herd immunity. Please make sure the sites you are researching are reputable medical/public health sites with solid scientific research. Look at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention site http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/. Sorry, not trying to get preachy but I really believe the evidence is in favor of vaccines. It's hard to be a mom sometimes....

Sandy you know my take on the subject. I too am very torn on what is the right thing to do I fel like immunizations are big business and we are the dummies buying it. At some point they will figure out that we are tired of money driving this battle. Then on the other hand I would hate for either of our babies to contract any of these illnesses. that site was very informative. Right now I'm trying to decide if I should give Adie the rsv shots ??? I guess I'll just keep praying.

That is an interesting idea. I followed the regular schedule and things are fine for my kiddies. I worry more about my children contracting something that could have been prevented. That is my greatest concern. I know I would never have forgiven myself for that. I love your updates and thoughts! Keep them coming!

Thanks for everyone's comments. I'll have to keep you posted on what I decide. I am leaning towards waiting until Olivia is a little bit older or weighs a little more before starting any vaccinations and I will probably do single vaccinations instead of grouping them together.

I heard that you its just the mercury that they think causes these problems and you can actually ask your Doctor which kind of drugs they use so you can research and see what they have in them. Jenny Mcarthy has a book on this and her son --she thinks--got sick from one of the antibiotics or vaccines. But she is not against vaccinating she just is against some of the vaccines themselves. My Aunt had decided not to vaccinate her little girl for meningitis and she ended up getting it and almost dying. I think its very important to get the babies vaccinated, but do your research first...and find the doctor who offers the safest vaccines.
